WHAT IS GOING, 2025 (short)
Writer/Director
An unnamed person finds a magic trunk that teleports objects and people to them. What is Going is a queer contribution to surreal silent cinema exploring liminal space, compulsion, the pain of letting go, and the unresolved anguish of being let go of.
Director Statement
Leaving someone, being left by someone, it jumbles grammar and speech and movement. Makes us frantic until we have nothing left but to re-mother ourselves with whatever remains. Two characters are moving away from each other and toward each other. And neither posture feels quite right — a tug of war when there should be communion and visa versa. I think we do this all throughout life with people and objects. We create rituals and intimacies to continue on. And this piece plays with it all.

Director Statement
Ambiguous loss is a curious thing. Like a confrontation of shadows. Opaque, borderless memories that somehow prick to the touch. A hollow that creaks when the wind blows. This project was born from a curiosity to explore the tension and nuance of encountering a person for the first time through the everyday objects they've left behind: the handles of their drawers, the worn armrests of a chair, the lube in the nightstand, the dental floss in the waste basket. Touching a fingerprint is nothing like holding a hand. And still, there is intimacy to be had in the smudge on a pair of reading glasses.
